Re: Janice Jarosz’s letter to The Item, March 11.
I found this article very unfair.
The last two statements bother me the most. Her question about protecting the space is unbelievable. Protecting property does not mean polluting it with dog feces.
As for Mr. Stocker’s wish, this land has provided fun and exercise for generations of children.
The neglect has been entirely by the town. The shelter was removed — necessarily — and not replaced. The swings, slide, and seesaw were removed and not replaced, except for a small set beside the baseball field. Bylaws were ignored, basic maintenance ceased, and dumping was tacitly allowed.
After all this, we lose our neighborhood playground. Where is the fairness in this?
