DURHAM, N.C. — It’s on to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Sweet 16 for Peabody’s Oluchi Okananwa and her second-seeded Duke University Blue Devils, who play the University of North Carolina at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
“It’s hard to go to back-to-back Sweet 16s,” said Duke Coach Kara Lawson. “We’re pleased to be back in the same position we were last year.”
Duke pulled off a come-from-behind 59-53 victory over the 10th-seeded Oregon Ducks Sunday inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. Okananwa, a sophomore, finished with six points, three rebounds, one assist, and a steal.
The Blue Devils opened the tournament with an 86-25 win against No. 15 Lehigh. Okananwa led Duke with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
