NAHANT — For residents traveling down Goddard Road, they may have noticed sudden construction just beyond Johnson Elementary School.
According to Town Administrator Tony Barletta, the town is actively working to replace a water main on the corner of Castle Road and Gardner Road. The town hired N. Granese and Sons, a contracting company based out of Salem, to oversee the project.
The town aims to complete the project before future homes are built in the area and the road is reconstructed.
“It will improve water service to future households on the road, as well as water supply to the fire hydrant that’s located at the end of the street,” Barletta said.
Unless the town encounters any unforeseen circumstances while replacing the water main, the project is scheduled to be completed by early next week, Barletta added.
