It may have taken five sets, but Lynn Tech’s boys volleyball team kicked off its spring in style with a 3-2 win against visiting Whittier Regional Vocational Tech. Fresh off coaching the girls basketball team, Coach Kaitlyn Wechsler and her Tigers are 1-0.
Leading the way for Tech were Didlaire Jacques Jr. (16 kills, 5 blocks, 5 aces), ever-so-unselfish Elmer Duran (34 assists, 9 digs, 3 aces), Davi De Oliveira (12 kills), Bryan Robles (5 kills, 4 blocks), Sam Caraballo (11 digs), Anthoni Diaz (6 kills), and Jacob Deleon (6 kills).

Kelan Cardinal of the Pioneers scored four goals to go with an assist, but it wasn’t enough in Lynnfield’s season-opener. Melrose led, 10-2, at halftime before the “defense really stepped up to make it a game in the second half,” according to Lynnfield Coach Pat Lamusta.
Johnny Powers, Owen Considine, and Michael Murphy also scored.
“The new young defense stepped up to cut the lead – Farias Schumacher, Driscoll Mancinelli,” Lamusta said. “And big saves by Ben Pimentel.”
