To the editor:
In Swampscott’s pivotal election for a Select Board member, my choice for 1 of the seats is Katie Phelan, and I implore you to join me in supporting her candidacy. The role of a Select Board member is challenging, and I am confident that Katie is ready to resume the demanding time commitment, willing to do the research to understand the complexities of issues, and display resilience in the face of inevitable scrutiny.
Most importantly, candidates for this seat must have my trust. Katie has mine because I am confident in her character and integrity, and know she is driven simply out of love for our town.
She possesses a rare combination of collaborative spirit and decisive leadership perfectly suited to navigate the difficulties that the position presents. She doesn’t always agree on the issues with other members that she’s confronted with, but Katie is always respectful towards them. Her understanding of Swampscott, coupled with an intuitive grasp of our collective aspirations, distinguishes her as an exceptional candidate for re-election.
With confidence, I pledge my support to Katie. We need her experience as Swampscott will have major decisions to make going forward, and I feel better knowing that Katie embodies the characteristics of what our town needs and deserves.
Please join me in voting for Katie Phelan for our town’s Select Board on April 29.
