LTTE: I trust Kim Baker Donahue

To the editor

April 1, 2025 by To the editor

To the editor:

With the upcoming vote for the School Committee, I will be voting for Kim Baker Donahue. Baker Donahue is a lifelong Lynnfield resident and has two sons, in second and sixth grade, as well as a niece in eighth grade and a nephew in seventh grade in Lynnfield Public Schools. Her willingness to donate her time and skills as an attorney is a testament to her courage and dedication to her family and to Lynnfield Public Schools, to put her hat in the ring despite knowing what has been done to other school committee members. She has held and continues to hold meet-and-greets to introduce herself to anyone she doesn’t already know in town, and I encourage you to go to one if you do not know her yet.

Baker Donahue is self-aware, respectful, and focused on collaboration. She is asking the right questions in preparation for her school committee role, such as how money is earmarked, who makes decisions on how school money is spent, and not just on how much is needed to keep our school system functioning well. Kim is keen on communication between ALL leadership and elected town officials, AND with community members. With respectful collaboration (and I think RESPECT is key to whoever we vote for in this role), she will focus on honesty, accountability, and transparency.

Finally, Baker Donahue said to me, “Change happens where there is consensus, but we won’t achieve consensus without trust, accountability, and process-driven decision-making. Not everyone will agree with all the decisions, but if they understand how the decisions were made, it helps people accept those decisions.”

Please consider your school committee vote carefully. Vote for a respectful, life-long Lynnfield resident with family in all phases of our education system, to make the best decisions using well-researched and thoughtful town-wide collaboration. Join me in voting for Kim Baker Donahue for the Lynnfield School Committee.
