SWAMPSCOTT — The town has received a $100,000 state-funded grant to facilitate work on climate resiliency priorities.
The grant comes from the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness, administered by the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. Swampscott is one of the 33 communities participating in the next round of the program over the next two years.
As part of the program, the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness 2.0 pilot program is an initiative aimed at helping communities enhance their efforts with climate resiliency.
“I am thrilled that we have been awarded $100,000 in grant funding from the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Program,” Interim Town Administrator and Director of the Department of Public Works Gino Cresta said. “This funding will enable us to build on our previous MVP 1.0 Planning Grant and advance our climate resiliency efforts.”
Cresta said the town is committed to working with its community partners to “proactively address the impacts of climate change,” while prioritizing social and environmental justice in the process.
“This grant will play a critical role in helping us achieve these goals,” Cresta said.
Cresta continued, “I appreciate the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs’ (EEA) ongoing commitment to supporting Swampscott’s climate resilience initiatives. We’re eager to put this funding to work and make a positive impact in Swampscott.”
