No better way to start.
Lynn Classical’s baseball team took care of business in its season-opener, topping Lynnfield, 5-4, on an enemy diamond. The Rams were down three runs going into the sixth inning, but fought back for a quality win.
Christian Figueroa went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs to go with three strikeouts. Mark Walsh did a little bit of everything, recording the save on the mound and going 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate. Boo Disaia went 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.
With a runner in scoring position, Gavin Collins came up clutch with a game-winning sacrifice fly to drive in a run.
Classical looks to make it 2-0 when it faces Medford on Monday.
“Really proud of my guys,” said Classical Coach Leon Elwell.” We were down three in the top of the sixth and battled back.”
