Host Lynn Tech took care of business against Mystic Valley during Thursday’s track and field action. The boys won, 98-44, with the girls following with a 76-53 victory.
The boys – who won 13 of 16 events – received first-place finishes from Christian Nunez, Liam Carmody, Kevin Smart, Dereon Phipps, Vanderson Petitfrere, Francis Ucheigwe, the relay team of Jacob Garcia, Colin McGough, Phipps, and Armani Arzola, and the relay team of Ucheigwe, Angel River, Nunez, and Franklyn Maldonado.
“It’s always good to get the first meet in,” said boys Coach John Hogan. “This was a great first win after working hard for two weeks.”
Leading the girls were first-place finishers Ashanti Batista, Jirielis De Jesus, and Brianna Anderson.

Peabody’s Aiden Haight made 15 saves and his Tanners took down visiting Danvers by a pair of goals. Jaden Kritikos (2 goals), Derek Collins, Tyson Higgins, Mason Clickstein, and Anthony Costanzo scored Peabody’s goals.

Marblehead fell short on enemy turf, but not without positives. Kathryn Commoss and Ramona Gillett potted two goals apiece, while Zoe Dwyer and Maddie Forbes also found the back of the net. Molly Bullard made nine saves.
“We come back to practice tomorrow and get ready for Beverly on Tuesday,” said Marblehead Coach Annie Madden. “Game No. 3 and we are playing to the last whistle. Time to grind tomorrow. I’m proud of how we are playing and what type of players we are learning to be – it’s only the beginning.”

Peabody’s Brooke Lomasney scored four goals and dished out an assist as the Tanners exploded offensively to clip the Falcons. Also contributing were Madi Barrett (2 goals, 2 assists), Ally Bettencourt (2 goals), Bella Kassis (2 goals, assist), Ariana Alvarado (goal, assist), Victoria Vaz (goal, 2 assists), Leah Bresnahan (goal, assist), Brianna Symonds (goal), and Caitlin Snow (4 saves).
“Strong showing in our opener,” said Peabody Coach Michelle Roach, fresh off the girls hockey season when she coached the Peabody-Lynnfield-North Reading co-op. “It was a total team effort. I saw a lot of positives, especially with incorporating what we have been working on the last couple weeks in practice. I’m looking forward to seeing what this group does in the weeks ahead.”

Lynn Tech (3-0) took down Lynn English in straight sets to advance in the city tournament. Leading the Tigers were Elmer Duran (21 assists, 6 digs, ace), Didlaire Jacques Jr. (11 kills, 5 digs, 2 blocks), Jayden Tran (8 digs, 7 kills), and Sam Caraballo (7 digs).

Lynn Classical (1-0) blew by KIPP in straight sets, setting up a date with Lynn Tech for the city championship Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Leading the Rams were Luca LoPriore (8 aces, 15 service points won), Viet Tran (10 kills, 3 aces), and Josh Gonzalez (5 kills).
“We played really well tonight in all phases of the game,” said Classical Coach Chris LeBlanc. “We served well, passed well, and attacked well. When we play like this, we’re going to be a difficult out for anyone we play. Luca really set the tone for us tonight. We moved our rotations around to make Luca our first server and he responded in the way we hoped, but couldn’t really expect. He was awesome from the line and really set us up for success all night long.”
