Swampscott’s girls lacrosse team (3-0) took down Saugus, 17-4, and remained undefeated with a dominant road performance Friday.
Cecelia Tripp and Fiona Keaney ripped hat-tricks, followed by Quinn Kelleher (goal, 4 assists), Bridget Ubano (2 goals), Lilah Giard (2 goals), Victoria Pierro (2 goals, assist), Lyla Rogers (assist), Audrey Heath (goal, 2 assists), Bridget Maloney (goal), Lia Beatrice (assist), Caroline Reen (2 goals, assist), Chloe Puzzo (assist), and Lauren Burse (assist).
Lilah Caplan impressed with seven saves for the Big Blue, who look to keep their streak going Tuesday against Winthrop at Blocksidge Field (4:30 p.m.).

The fans at Fraser Field saw 11 runs scored – all of them by the hosts. St. Mary’s (2-0) was led by Kyle Doney (2 H, 2 RBI) and Jack Zimmerman, who punched out eight batters and allowed just one hit on the mound.

In a five-inning mercy, Marblehead’s bats were red hot. Do-it-all Tessa Francis was 2-for-4 with a two-run triple and two-run homer, all while striking out 10 batters and throwing a no-hitter in the circle.
Tessa Andriano was 3-for-4 with three RBI, Nora Mahan batted 2-for-2, and Ashley Mortensen was 2-for-4. Isabel Mortensen, Lyla McGovern, and Kate Andriano collected hits, too.

Aliza Crean-Oviedo struck out seven batters and the Spartans (1-1) won their first game of the season. They host Bishop Fenwick at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The Peabody softball team picked up its first win of the season Friday, defeating host Masconomet, 15-4, to improve to 1-1. Kaylee DiNicola had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, four RBI, and three runs scored. Freshman Ayanna Cirame (3 K) went the distance in the circle. Lizzie Bettencourt (1-1) blasted a two-run homer.
Peabody Coach Steve Lomasney was pleased with the Tanners’ all-around effort.
“They hit the ball and we made the plays,” he said. “Some found some holes, but other than that, it was an excellent all-around game for us.”

The fans at Pioneer Stadium had plenty to cheer about, with Lynnfield (2-1, 1-0 Cape Ann League) exploding offensively to make it two wins in as many days. Michael Murphy led the way with five goals, followed by Paul Daley’s four.
Also contributing were Owen Doherty (3 goals), Kelan Cardinal (2 goals, 5 assists), John Powers (2 goals, 2 assists), Brendan Driscoll (goal, 7 ground balls), Angelo Covino (goal), Brayden Anderson (goal), and Ben Pimentel (7 saves).
Lynnfield, which won 21 of 25 face-offs Friday, returns to action Monday at Triton beginning at 4 p.m.

Dominance was on display for Marblehead (1-0), which swept Beverly on home courts. Etan Farfel, Matthew Sherf, and Jayden Janock picked up singles wins, while the doubles teams – Anthony Vizy and Ty Cooper; TJ Kelly and Adam Loughlin – also took care of business.

Lynnfield took care of Swampscott, 4-1, with its only loss coming at first singles, where Sam Schepens of the Big Blue recorded a come-from-behind win against Shea McCarthy. The Pioneers received wins from Shlok Kudrimoti and Brady Trippe at singles, and from the doubles teams: Raffi Arkun and Julian Flake; Andee Shieh and Elijah Stadhauder.

Swampscott’s Lilly Carr picked up a third singles win and her twin sister, Nikki, gave Lynnfield standout Paige Martino a battle at first singles, but it wasn’t enough for the Big Blue.
“The match was actually closer than the score,” said Swampscott Coach Nina Rogers. “The matches were all competitive and we’re excited for a great season.”

Marblehead (0-1) fell short against powerhouse Winchester, but not without positives, according to Coach Tracy Ackerman.
“Winchester is as strong of a team as we will see this season,” she said. “Our team will use this match as a learning tool for their upcoming matches. They got to play against very advanced tennis players, which was a good experience. I’m proud that all five lines for us did better in their second sets than the first. They made some adjustments and got used to the pace of play from Winchester.”
