Team of the Week – Lynn Classical volleyball

Joey Barrett

April 6, 2025 by Joey Barrett

You know what I’ve been thinking? They’re on top of the city – again.

Lynn Classical’s volleyball team (2-0) had itself a weekend, defeating Lynn Tech, 3-0, Saturday to capture the city championship. Set scores – through a very competitive effort from Tech – were 25-21, 25-18, and 25-13.

“We could not be prouder of these boys,” said Classical Coach Chris LeBlanc, whose Rams won the city title for the second consecutive year. “They fought hard both nights and left no doubt as to where the trophy should reside for the next year. This was a total team effort. We got contributions from everyone up and down the roster. This is a great way to start the season and lets us roll into league play Monday on a high note.”

Senior Viet Tran was named tournament MVP after recording 15 kills and four aces against Tech. Senior Josh Gonzalez and junior Long Pham made the all-tournament team. Junior Kenzel Lantano put on a show against the Tigers with 39 assists, while Gonzalez recorded eight kills Saturday.

Classical took down KIPP (25-10, 25-10, 25-15) in Friday’s opener. Senior Luca LoPriore stole the show with eight aces and 15 service points won.

“Luca really set the tone for us tonight,” LeBlanc said Friday. “We moved our rotations around to make Luca our first server and he responded in the way we hoped, but couldn’t really expect. He was awesome from the line and really set us up for success all night long.”

Classical visits Medford Monday at 4 p.m.

Rams, good week.
