The St. John’s Prep track and field team began its spring 2-0 with home wins against BC High (95-41) and Catholic Memorial (105-36) Saturday morning. Nine Eagles won their events.
First-place finishers were Lincoln Massaro (110m hurdles), Andrew McManmon (200m), Caden Rogovich (400m), Noah Kabel (400m hurdles), Daniel Padley (800m), Henry McDonnell (mile), Andrew Bertucci (high jump), Kye McClory (javelin), and Gael Garcia (shot put).
The Prep hosts Xaverian Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Manchester-Essex 5
Marblehead suffered a sixth-inning scare, but held on against host Manchester-Essex at Essex Memorial Field. Carter Sahagian (6 K) earned the win after going four innings, while Colt Wales and Ethan Harwood recorded three hits apiece for the Magicians, who jumped ahead with a 5-0 lead.

The Tigers (1-2) held a 7-4 lead, but couldn’t close in a “tough loss,” according to Coach Eddie Lewis.
“We were looking to bounce back today and we played well, but unfortunately for us, we let BCC hang around a little too long,” Lewis said. “We went back and forth early, and I give them credit for battling the entire game.”

Ava Nason (22 goals in 4 games) continued her stellar start to the season, and St. Mary’s recorded its second consecutive win to return to .500 (2-2). Shayne Denning (3 goals), Alyssa Norden (2), and Ava Korisianos (1) found the back of the net, while Emma Gustin made five saves.
SOFTBALL
Lynn Classical’s season-opener against Greater Lowell was postponed Saturday due to weather conditions. The Lady Rams host Medford Monday at 4:15 p.m.
