LTTE: I trust Fletcher and Phelan to lead Swampscott

To the editor

April 8, 2025 by To the editor

To the editor:

I am writing to offer my strong support for the candidacies of Mary Ellen Fletcher and Katie Phelan for the Swampscott Select Board. Along with Danielle Leonard, they have worked tirelessly to bring common sense and civility back to the Board, and they truly deserve to be re-elected.

Having served on the Board for 18 years, I’ve seen many dedicated volunteers who have worked hard for the betterment of Swampscott. Unfortunately, in recent years, we’ve witnessed individuals with private agendas disrupting the progress of our wonderful town. Poor decisions — both financial and personnel-related — have had a serious impact on the fabric of Swampscott. While change is inevitable, we must take steps to protect what our community has worked so hard to preserve over the years.

Mary Ellen and Katie are successfully steering the town back in the right direction, eliminating distractions and resolving issues that have hampered previous Boards. With many important challenges facing Swampscott, I’m confident that the town will be in good hands with Mary Ellen Fletcher and Katie Phelan. They have proven their unwavering commitment to keeping Swampscott a great place to live.

I strongly urge you to vote for these two exceptional individuals on Election Day, April 29.

Swampscott Select Board Member 1989-2008
