SAUGUS — A two-alarm fire broke out Thursday night on 16 Acadia Ave. The town’s fire department, along with departments from the surrounding area, responded. Police also responded to the scene.
According to Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli, the fire started at approximately 6:41 p.m., and police were first on the scene, quickly followed by the fire department.

Popping noises were also heard on the scene. There was speculation that it could be gunshots, but no shots were fired. As of right now, the noise has been attributed to small propane tanks.
According to the fire department, the fire broke out at the rear of the house, and the department used a master stream and handlines to knock down the blaze.
