Swampscott’s softball team put on a show against visiting Lynn English, 12-2, behind Mia Tringale’s (11 K, 2 BB) performance in the circle. The offense, which connected on 11 hits, was led by Tringale (2 H), Cece O’Connor, Maddie Lilley, and Olivia Barletta.
Do-it-all Kate Johansson of the Bulldogs hit a double and punched out seven batters to go with just four earned runs. Guiding English’s offense were LeaNyah Pineiro and Jianny Bernabel, who collected two hits apiece.
Swampscott visits Beverly Monday at 11 a.m., while English has a quick turnaround and hosts Lynn Classical Friday at 10 a.m.

The Spartans (3-2) had hot bats Thursday, taking down Arlington Catholic behind Abbey Sousa’s four hits, five runs, and four RBI. Also contributing were Olivia DiSessa (4-for-4, 4 R, 3 RBI), Gianna Napoli (3-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI), Ryleigh Williams (3 R, RBI), and Lina Owumi (3-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI).

A 9-0 first-inning deficit was no problem for the Sachems (3-4), who responded with a barrage to take down Northeast Metro at home. Saugus was led by Arianna Chianca (4 H, 3 RBI), Danica Schena (3 H, 2 RBI), Lily Ventre (3 H, 5 RBI), Alexa Morello (3 H, 3 RBI), Layla DeMonte (2 H, grand slam), Maya Pina (RBI), and Sofia McCarrier, who picked up the win in the circle.

Lynnfield (2-3) fell short against Lowell Catholic (3-1) despite a strong outing from pitcher Gia Gagnon (6 IP, 6 K, 2 BB, 6 H), who also compiled three singles at the plate. Olivia Kelter (2 H, RBI) and Lily Williams (RBI) contributed offensively, while Lynnfield Coach Hector Longo said Williams was “absolutely dynamite defensively behind the plate.”

Tech (3-5) defended Fraser Field with a convincing win against BCC. Jendo Diaz did “an amazing job” on the bump, according to Coach Eddie Lewis, while the defense allowed just one run. Offensive leaders were Eddie Lewis Jr. (2B, R), Christopher Boyd (2 H), and Joanas Perez (2 H), while Colin Newhall (3 K) collected the save.
“We were looking to get back on track and today was a step in the right direction,” Coach Lewis said. “The plan was to not get complacent today. We played a lot cleaner on the defensive side of the ball… I definitely credit my team for trusting the process – win or lose.”

In a five-inning mercy, Peabody’s Max Silvia pitched a complete game and allowed just four hits, two walks, and two earned runs to go with five punchouts. The offense was led by Noah (3-for-4, 2 2B, 5 RBI) and Jake Crocker (2-for-2, 2 RBI, 3 R).

Despite a first singles loss, Marblehead (4-1) had more than enough in the tank to take down Malden Catholic on home court. Ty Cooper and Alex Boehning won singles matches. The doubles teams of Leo Winocour/Adam Loughlin and Nico Altonian/Filip Wabno were also victorious.
“I’m really proud of how our boys competed throughout the lineup,” said Marblehead Coach Elisabeth Foukal. “Three of our players played their first top-seven match and came out with solid wins, which shows the depth of our lineup.”
