Scoring goals wasn’t a problem for Peabody when it defeated Gloucester by 12 goals (13-1). Ally Bettencourt, Brooke Lomasney, Ari Alvarado, and Alexia Morris all scored two goals in the dominating win over Gloucester.
It was a “total team effort” according to Peabody Head Coach Michelle Roach whose Tanners moved to 4-2 in the season and 4-1 in the Northeastern Conference.
Madi Barrett, Lomasney, Kassis, and Alvarado all picked up at least one assist.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Beverly 13
Swampscott 12
The Big Blue (7-1) lost their first game of the season on the road to the Panthers. Despite six goals from Cecelia Tripp, Beverly found a way to snap Swampscott’s winning streak in overtime.
Avery Laundry finished with five goals and two assists for the Big Blue, while Lilah Caplan made 10 saves in net.

The Magicians dropped the road game against a talented Wakefield side.
BASEBALL

Somerville 0
Christian Figueroa was the difference for the Rams as the senior ace pitched a complete game no-hitter in the win. Figueroa finished the game with 14 strikeouts, and two walks.
The score was tied going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Rams found timely hits and scored all three of their runs in the inning.
St. John’s Prep 8
Haverhill 0
The Eagles had 11 hits to power past Haverhill. Defensively Braeden Hurley, Jack DiFilippo, and Joseph Eberhart combined for 10 strikeouts for the shutout win.
St. John’s Prep will travel to Needham on Wednesday for a 1 p.m. game.

The bats were hot for the Bulldogs as they crossed home plate twenty times in a sensational performance.
Lynn English collected 13 hits in the game. One of the hits was a home run from Gilbert Galva to left field which scored two runs.
Eldry Bonilla earned the win for the Bulldogs. Bonilla pitched two innings and gave up two hits and one run with five strikeouts. Galva and Julian Rodriguez both took turns on the mound and threw shutout innings.
Melrose 9
Peabody 1
It was a game to forget for the Tanners. Melrose scored six runs with two outs in the second inning to gain all the momentum.
“We didn’t recover,” Head Coach Mark Bettencourt said of the inning.
Peabody got five hits from Noah Crocker, Jake Crocker, Jayden Cunningham, Luke Maglione, and Ethan Waybret. Waybret registered the team’s only RBI.

Northeast Metro 3
Saugus protected its home field with a convincing win over Northeast Metro. The highlight of the game came from senior Dan Zeitz who hit a home run to center field. Zeitz finished the game with five RBI.

Starting pitcher Spencer Reames went six innings giving up two hits and striking out seven for the Big Blue.
Caden Ross led the way offensively with four hits, two stolen bases, an RBI, and two runs scored. Jamison Ford had three hits, two of which were triples, and two runs scored.
Dylan DiFilippo and Chase Groothuis both finished the game with two RBI.
SOFTBALL
Lynn English 14
Chelsea 1
The Bulldogs bounced back on Monday with a dominating performance over Chelsea.
Kate Johansson pitched all five innings allowing one earned run, one hit, three walks, and struck out eight.
Lynn English was patient at the plate and walked 12 times. Sophomore Aemilia Serino, went 1-for-2 with three RBI and a walk.

The bats continued to be hot for the Rams. Aysia Olase went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run to center field. Olase finished the day with four RBI and scored three runs.
Not only did Olase do damage on offense, but in the circle she pitched four innings striking out nine and allowing just three hits.
Freshman Emma Pento got her first varsity hit and also recorded an RBI while teammate Chloe Corbett had an RBI double in the win.
Brooke Braswell pitched for the first time this season going two innings with four strikeouts.

The Rams earned a home win against Everett on Monday morning. Victor Bun won a close match at first singles 6-3, 6-4.
Then it was Ori Beato picking up a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles.
Mohamed Shehata and Jason Burgos won a tense 7-6, 2-6, 7-5 match at first doubles.
The second doubles pair, Remy Mai and Yosgert Ortinz, won their match 6-2, 6-4.
