SALEM — On Thursday, local fashion group Sinkid had a ribbon cutting celebration on 104 Lafayette St. in Salem as part of the Northshore CDC’s Small Business Program, which chose the brand as the next occupant for their Incubator Pop-Up Shop. From May to October, the shop will be open to the public as they’ll be able to browse the group’s clothing pieces, attend live fashion shows, and behind-the-scenes modeling shoots. The group consisting of members Big Body, Dee Dame, Sinkid IB, and Asian Goblin opened up the shop with a limited time in-store exclusive piece, while also giving away two hoodies and a Scopo chain, and had refreshments and food for the large turnout.
“It’s amazing man, everybody’s happy and having a great time,” Big Body said when asked about the turn out of the event.
Northshore CDC programs are funded in part by the City of Salem, the City of Peabody Department of Planning and Community Development, the Massachusetts Office of Economic Development, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Wells Fargo Charitable Foundation, M&T Bank, and Mass Growth Capital Corporation. Every six months, Northshore CDC hosts a new business in their space, for which you can apply to be on a waitlist. The applications will reopen at the end of the summer. If you’re interested in applying to be a part of this program, visit northshorecdc.org.
“I can’t believe it… We got a spot now. Where we can all work, operate, and sell our items,” Asian Goblin said. “In the beginning of the year we’re like ‘we’re gonna get a store’ and it’s unbelievable right now, and I’m very proud. Very happy about it.”
