SAUGUS — The Saugus Family YMCA is kicking off its Road Race Series on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Breakheart Reservation with its Not a Walk in the Park 5K.
The series occurs throughout the years, starting in Saugus, then going to Nahant on May 10 for the Stride Along the Tide 5K, Melrose on Oct. 25 for the Spooky Sprint 5K and ending with Peabody’s Livestrong at the Y 5K & Half Marathon.
“Hosting a road race like the Not a Walk in the Park 5K isn’t just about running — it’s about rallying together for our kids and community. Every mile supports programs that help children thrive and promotes the health and wellness of every neighbor who crosses the finish line,” said President and CEO of YMCA Metro North Kathleen Walsh.
The proceeds from the four road races support the YMCA of Metro North Annual Fund and raise money to provide access to YMCA child care, camp and health and wellness programs to everyone, according to the Not a Walk in the Park website.
In 2024, YMCA of Metro North provided more than $2.4 million in financial aid, providing all children, adults and families with opportunities to develop a healthy spirit, mind and body regardless of income.
You can sign up for the Not a Walk in the Park 5K online. Runners can also have the option to sign up for all four races in a bundle.
