LTTE: Why I’m voting only for Liz Smith for the Swampscott Select Board

To the editor

To the editor:

Why I’m voting for Liz and only Liz for the Swampscott Select Board.

On Tuesday, April 29, the Town of Swampscott will be choosing members of its next Select Board. Just because there are two open seats doesn’t mean you have to vote for two candidates. If you really want to make a change, the best strategy is to cast one vote and one vote only for candidate Liz Smith.

Voting for just one candidate in a two-person election has the impact of casting two votes for that candidate. In my view, Liz Smith represents the change desperately needed on the Swampscott Select Board. Her advocacy for the waterfront, for cleaning up King’s and Fisherman’s Beaches, and her experience with managing complicated budgets make her more than qualified. Her priorities are better community engagement, fully funding the public schools, enhancing services to meet the needs of all citizens, and a more transparent planning process regarding important town initiatives such as the Hadley Hotel and the Hawthorne property.

So, on April 29, I invite you to join me and vote only for Liz Smith!
