LYNN — EmVision Productions, a social impact media agency in Lynn, that aims to spark social change through storytelling, was named Microenterprise of the Year for Massachusetts by the Small Business Administration.
The agency, which was co-founded by Dr. Tariana V. Little and Jonas Meyer as college students in 2013, serves clients across the country, from grassroots nonprofits to global corporations, according to the press release. By utilizing the agency’s Social Impact Storytelling framework, EmVision prioritizes asset-based communications to help organizations humanize complex issues, showcase solutions and raise money.
“We’re excited to be honoring Doctor Tariana Little for the SBA’s annual ‘Small Business Awards Breakfast,’ and there’s the a slate of local business owners that contribute to the local economy, as well as the national economy, and we’re excited to being able to celebrate these amazing entrepreneurs,” Public Affairs Specialist for the SBA Norman Eng said.
“As a proudly queer, woman of color owned and led organization, we aim to promote an ecosystem for positive social change. This includes our team, our partner-clients, and how we give forward,” CEO Dr. Tariana Little said. “We thank the SBA for this award, and we recognize the business resources and countless community champions that have been part of our growth journey.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the agency was supported by the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program, through the Reading Cooperative Bank, and technical assistance from Small Business Strong advisors. The loan, which was fully forgiven, allowed the agency to retain its team and focus on sales growth after the pandemic had ended.
Later, in 2023, the agency secured an SBA 504 loan through Eastern Bank and Bay Colony Development Corporation, which it used to purchase a commercial property in Lynn.
Little leveraged free counseling services from the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center’s Northeast Regional Office in Salem (in order to make the agency’s vision financially feasible). She also secured more than $60,000 toward renovations, thanks to the MassDevelopment’s Growth Capital Division.
They launched EmVision Studios — the agency’s production headquarters — in the fall of 2023, with the goal of having a space to host educational workshops and gatherings.
“We proudly congratulate EmVision Productions on their growth and this significant award,” City of Lynn Mayor Jared C. Nicholson said. “This well-deserved recognition celebrates the positive social change they champion from their home in Lynn to communities nationwide.”
Dr. Little was nominated by Lisa Fulton, Vice President — Business Banking Relationship Manager, Eastern Bank. She will be honored at the annual National Small Business Week Massachusetts Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 5th, 2025, at the Tip O’Neill Federal Building.
