NAHANT — Pat O’Reilly, one of the three candidates for the Board of Selectmen, was officially elected to the role after the results of Saturday night’s election.
O’Reilly won the race with 449 votes, while other candidates, Michael P. Manning, received 290 votes, and David Wilson received 77.
After the election, O’Reilly shared his gratitude for being elected on Facebook, where he commented on securing the position.
“I want to thank my supporters and voters of Nahant for electing me as Selectman. I would also like to thank the other candidates for their service and putting themselves out there on behalf of the town… I am happy to do my part to keep the town moving forward,” he said.
For the position of Town Moderator, Peter Barba (the only name on the ballot) received 653 votes; Diana Savage Dunfee, the only candidate for the position of Town Clerk, received 725 votes; Edward Costigan received 583 votes for the role of Assessor (the only candidate) for a three-year term.
Anne Bromer, the only candidate on the ballot for Public Library Trustee, received 611 votes. For the position of Constable, Robert T. Scanlan, Jr. received 539 votes.
For the School Committee three-year term seat, Beth Anderson received 571 votes; for the School Committee’s two-year, unexpired term, Meredith Tibbo beat Judith Murphy with 467 votes to Murphy’s 203 votes.
Sheila K. Hambleton received 627 votes for the five-year term for the Planning Board, while for the two-year unexpired term, Michael Cullinan received 505 votes, whereas Scott Kirkland received 177.
Susan Edwards received 603 votes for the Nahant Housing Authority.
