Peabody High’s Aidan Haight was the do-it-all Tanner in Tuesday evening’s boys lacrosse game against Winthrop, but his team fell to the Vikings in a 9-7 final.

Haight made 18 saves between the pipes, but didn’t stop there. Not only did the netminder dish out an assist, but he scored a goal from the other side of the field in a jaw-dropping moment.

“He was incredibly dialed in today – one of the best games I’ve ever seen him play,” said Peabody Coach Jason Marshall, who also helms the Peabody-Saugus-Swampscott boys hockey team during winters.

Peabody’s Stephen Brown netted a hat trick and delivered an assist, while Jason Houlden – playing in his first game after a preseason injury – also found the back of the net.

The Tanners host city rival Bishop Fenwick Thursday with opening face-off set for 6:30 p.m.

BOYS LACROSSE

Swampscott 5
Danvers 3

In a low-scoring defensive battle, the visiting Big Blue had just enough to defeat Danvers. Chase Russo scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist, followed offensively by Jason Rothwell (goal), Liam Keaney (goal), Jack Raymond (assist), and Tyler Ostroff (goal). Timmy Sheehan made 10 saves, Luke Michigan won nine of 11 face-offs, and Jay Domelowicz scooped up six ground balls alongside four caused turnovers.

Tyler Moody led Danvers with a pair of goals, followed by Connor Harvey (goal) and Trevor McDermott. Aidan Perry stood his ground with 18 saves.

Marblehead 17
Salem 1

Three Magicians – Reece Moore (4 goals), Will Sullivan, and James Achterhof – ripped hat tricks in Marblehead’s dominant display against Salem. Ten Marblehead players scored, while goalie Colin Maniaci saved all three shots sent his way before subbing out.

St. John’s Prep 7
Boston College High 6

Josh Barton – just a minute into overtime – was the hero as St. John’s Prep (10-1) took down previously-undefeated BC High on Glatz Field. Mattheus Du Plessis made 13 saves and Beckett Lee scored twice for the Eagles, who trailed by a pair of goals (5-3) after three quarters.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Marblehead 16
Salem 2

Marblehead (6-4, 4-2 Northeastern Conference) received five goals from Maddie Forbes and rolled to a convincing road win against Salem. Molly Bullard made seven saves, while Ramona Gillett and Kathryn Commoss potted hat tricks. Also scoring were Gretchen Smith, Zoe Dwyer (4 assists), Emma Ryan, Anna Rausch, and Ella McConnell.

Peabody 16
Winthrop 1

The Tanners (7-2, 6-1 NEC) spread out the wealth in a dominant performance on enemy turf. Leading the offense were Brooke Lomasney (4 goals, 2 assists), Ally Bettencourt (3 goals, 2 assists), Victoria Vaz (2 goals, 2 assists), Ari Alvarado (2 goals, 2 assists), Madi Barrett (2 goals, assist), Bella Kassis (2 assists), Connie Patturelli (goal), Elizabeth Moore (goal), and Alexis Morris (goal).

“Total team effort,” said Peabody Coach Michelle Roach. “[We were] really focused on draw, ground ball control, and causing interceptions.”

BASEBALL

Lynnfield 6
Ipswich 4

Lynnfield pitcher Joe Wozniak tossed “four very strong innings and picked up the win,” as said by Coach John O’Brien, whose Pioneers (6-3) handled host Ipswich by a pair of runs.

“We let all three of those games slip away by a run, but we put the ball in play today and the pitching was pretty good to go with some good defense,” O’Brien said.

Leading the way were Tyler Adamo (3-for-4), Luke DiSilvio (3 H, 2 RBI), and Walter Radulski (2 RBI), who closed out Tuesday’s game with a save.

“I think over the last three games, he’s (Adamo) had about 10 hits – easy,” O’Brien said.

Nick Groussis “did a fabulous job” behind the plate, according to O’Brien, while Madux Iovinelli made some impressive plays from center field.

SOFTBALL

Mystic Valley 22
Lynn Tech 7

The Lynn Tech softballers met their match against Mystic Valley. Leading the Tigers were pitcher Genevieve McCafferty (6 K), Zoe Wilson (3-for-3, 2 RBI), Keila McGregor (2-for-4, RBI, 2 R), and Aemy Tiburcio (2 H, 2 R).

“Mystic Valley’s offense was too much for our defense,” said Tech Coach Beth Mercaldi.

BOYS TENNIS

Marblehead 4
Swampscott 1

Despite a first singles loss against Swampscott’s Sam Schepens, Marblehead had more than enough in the tank to take down its traditional archrival. Matt Sherf and Jayden Janocle were victorious in singles, as were the duos of Anthony Vizy/Ty Cooper and TJ Kelly/Austin Bacon.

VOLLEYBALL

Lynn Tech 3
Pioneer Charter 0

In set scores of 25-14, 25-20, and 25-15, the Tigers (9-2) stayed hot with another win. Helping the cause were Jayden Tran (9 kills, 7 digs, 2 aces), Elmer Duran (20 assists, 5 digs, 3 aces), Davi De Oliveira (9 kills), Didlaire Jacques Jr. (8 digs, 5 kills), Jacob DeLeon (6 digs, 4 aces, 2 kills), and Cristhian Penaloza (4 aces).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Lynnfield 77.5
Hamilton-Wenham 67.5

In its first home meet of the season, Lynnfield (1-1) was on the run against Hamilton-Wenham. Nick Kelter broke a school record in the triple jump with a leap of 43-11. Other first-place Pioneers were Jesse Dorman (100m: 11.4), Dan Lemieux (400m: 53.7; long jump: 20-9), Dillon Reilly (200m: 23.4), Eli Mendese (shot put: 42-9; javelin: 151-3; high jump: 6-4), and the 4×100 relay team of Brendan Reilly, Dillon Reilly, Kelter, and Dorman (45.1).
