In a back-and-forth thriller of a boys lacrosse game, host Peabody defeated Bishop Fenwick, 8-7, in Thursday’s 14th annual Danish Cup. Neither side scored in the fourth quarter as the Tanners’ dominant first half was the difference.
Peabody led, 3-2, after the first quarter behind goals from Jason Houlden, Jayden Kritikos (4 goals, assist), and Derek Collins. From there, the Tanners carried a three-goal lead (7-4) into halftime.
Fenwick scored three third-quarter goals, courtesy of Nate Ricciuti and Aidan Byrne, to make things interesting, but Joe Vaz’s third-quarter tuck proved to be the game-winner for Peabody.
Liam Kelsch stood strong between Fenwick’s pipes with 11 saves.
Peabody hosts Masconomet Tuesday at 4 p.m., while Fenwick visits Bishop Stang Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Peabody goalie Caitlin Snow (11 saves) crossed the 500-save mark in the Tanners’ (8-2) narrow home win against Chelmsford, which is currently ranked No. 2 in the MIAA Division 1 power rankings. Brooke Lomasney (5 goals, 2 assists), Ally Bettencourt (3 goals, 3 assists), and Madi Barrett got the job done offensively.
“The game was led by strong defensive play from Snow, Maia Davis, and Connie Patturelli,” said Peabody Coach Michelle Roach. “I’m very proud of their hard work, excellent decision-making, and commitment to pushing until the last whistle.”

Goals were aplenty in Swampscott’s (9-2) handling of host Winthrop. Avery Laundry led the way with five goals and three assists, followed offensively by Cecelia Tripp (4 goals), Bridget Maloney (3 goals, assist), Victoria Pierro (2 goals, 3 assists), Quinn Kelleher (2 goals, assist), Fiona Keaney (goal, 2 assists), and Chloe Puzzo (goal, 2 assists). Lilah Caplan played well with six saves.

Behind Maddie Forbes’ six-goal performance, her Magicians (7-4) squeezed past the Panthers on enemy turf. Ramona Gillett tucked her 100th career goal.
“Play as a team, win as a team,” said Marblehead Coach Annie Madden. “We play hard, pretty lacrosse. The defense was strong and made the difference against a strong, fast Beverly team.”

Call it a pitchers’ duel. English’s Engel Thomas (7 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 8 K) earned the win, while Domenic Bellia took a tough loss for Revere despite allowing just three hits and striking out seven Bulldogs. Jariel Benzan, Gilbert Galva, and Thomas connected on hits for English, which didn’t commit a single error.

Lynnfield pitcher Madux Iovinelli (7 IP, 2 H, 12 K) “was the difference,” according to Pioneers’ Coach John O’Brien. Offensive contributors were Walter Radulski (2 H, R), Jimmy Pasquale (2 H, RBI), and Sam Bird (RBI).
“It was a terrific game by Madux and he threw very well,” O’Brien said. “Twelve strikeouts and two hits… he was around the strike zone all day.”

Fenwick jumped out to 3-0 and 5-0 leads en route to a victory against visiting Marblehead. Andrew Kiricoples (2 H, RBI) led the Crusaders offensively, while Colin Churches earned the win after striking out five Magicians across four innings. Rory Zampese impressed for Marblehead with a pair of hits, while Carter Sahagian punched out five batters from the bump.

Joey Smith (6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7K) earned the win as Peabody rolled over Masconomet. Doing offensive damage were Luke Maglione (3-for-4, R, RBI), Mike Murphy (2-for-4, 2 R, RBI), Jariel Tolentino (2-for-5, RBI, R), Jayden Cunningham (2-for-3, R), and Zach Hartnett (1-for-1, 2 RBI).

Classical upped its record to 5-4 as captain Nevaeh Eth was 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBI, and four runs scored. Brooke Braswell batted 3-for-4, Aysia Olaes batted 2-for-3 with four RBI, and Chloe Corbett batted 2-for-4 with a pair of runs.
