Lynn Classical’s baseball team (10-2) clinched a spot in the Division 2 state tournament with Wednesday’s 6-2 victory against Malden. Christian Figueroa tossed a complete game, allowing just five hits and one earned run to go with five strikeouts.
“It’s a great achievement to get into the state tournament,” said Classical Coach Jason Rogato. “I’m proud of how hard this team has worked in the first half of the season.”
Rolky Brea (2-for-4, RBI, 3 SB) and Emerson Lara (2-for-3, RBI, R) led the Rams offensively.
“Christian was great on the mound again,” Rogato said. “We made a couple errors in the first inning, but he kept us in the game until we could get the bats going. Rolky Brea came up with a couple of hits and three stolen bases to lead the offense. It was a team effort today. We had five guys drive in runs and it’s been this way all year.”
