Despite having a four-run lead at Fraser Field, Lynn English’s baseball team couldn’t hold on against Saugus, which escaped with a 7-6 victory Tuesday.
English held a lead in the sixth inning, but Saugus scored six runs on two hits in the seventh – the biggest blow coming off the bat of Danny Zeitz, who drove in two runs.
Saugus’ Brayden Crawford earned the win. The right-hander allowed just one hit and struck out three batters across his one inning of play. English’s Jariel Benzan (2 K) started on the bump, conceding just four hits and an unearned run across five innings.
Ty Riley led the Sachems with a 2-for-3 showing, while teammate Cam Soroko (3 BB, 2 SB) did a little bit of everything. The Bulldogs were led by Gilbert Galva, who batted 2-for-4.
