Saugus softball star Lily Ventre doesn’t need home-field advantage – just a bat and ball.
She roped her 100th career RBI in the Sachems’ 5-2 victory in Salem Wednesday. Better yet, it was a solo “blast,” as said by Coach Steve Almquist, to give Saugus (7-7) a late insurance run in the seventh inning.
“It’s something she should be proud of and I know her teammates are proud as well,” Almquist said.
Then there was do-it-all Taylor Deleidi (CG, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 9 K), who put on a show in the circle. She helped her own cause with two hits and two RBI offensively.

Somerville 1
Bouncing back from its loss against Lynn English earlier in the week, Classical (12-3) returned to form in Somerville. Braeden Ohannessian (7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 7K) went the distance, while Boo DiSaia (2-for-3, RBI, SB) did a little bit of everything. Emerson Lara, Ronal Brea, and Dami Munoz all compiled hits and RBI.
“Braeden was in control the whole game. He kept them off balance and pitched his best game of the season,” said Classical Coach Jason Rogato. “Boo contributed all over the field today. He had two hits, stole a base, and threw out the only runner that tried to steal. We got off to a slow start offensively, but Braeden kept us in it and Boo got the offense going.”
