SAUGUS — The Board of Selectmen gave out a citation to Alex Pappagallo, who lives in Saugus and attends school at Northeast Metro Tech. Alex won an honorable mention for his PSA poster for the MASS Partnership for Youth Poster Project.
Board of Selectmen Chair Debra Panetta held up Alex’s poster for everyone in the audience and those watching at home could see.
“It’s about community, and we’d like to congratulate Alex and his family,” she said.
Alex, his family and his friends were invited to the podium to say a few words.
“My inspiration for the poster was (that) I basically wanted to spread the message of community and of course unity, which is inside of the word community united as a whole,” Alex said.
Alex said he didn’t want to focus on anything specific and wanted to focus fully on the positive.
“I think you did a phenomenal job,” Panetta said.
Each selectman was then invited to say a few words about the poster.
“It’s a beautiful poster. Congratulations and you were worked really hard on it and we’re all proud of you,” Selectman Corinne Riley said.
“Alex, I’m certainly proud of you. You’re a great talent and you did a great job on the poster. You’re certainly an asset to our community. Thank you,” Selectman Michael Serino said.
“I just want to thank you. It’s a great piece of work that you did and it’s a pleasure meeting you. Best of luck in the future,” Selectman Anthony Cogliano said.
“I echo all of the comments that have already been said. We’re really proud of you. This is quite an amazing accomplishment, and I’m hoping we can find a nice way to display his excellence and the message that it sends,” Vice Chair Jeff Cicolini said. “We need more people like you in town that are spreading the word about community and unity.”
Panetta then read the citation which stated, “Town of Saugus citation to all persons whom these presents shall come. Be it known that on this day May 20, 2025, the Town of Saugus recognizes Alex Pappagallo for being chosen as honorable mention for his design.”
At the end of the presentation, Alex took a photo with all of the Selectmen and Town Manager Scott Crabtree.
