Beyond Walls goes live in Lynn

May 26, 2025 by Elizabeth Della Piana

LYNN — Beyond Walls, a nonprofit that has painted the city with mural masterpieces, is having a night of live art at the Lynn Museum 5-9 p.m. June 7.

The night will consist of mural tours showing off the public art in the downtown area, a live art battle where you can watch artists complete art live and music from the band Village Revival. The night will also include food and drink for those in attendance.

The night will start at the Beyond Walls Studio on 18 Mt. Vernon St. for light refreshments, which will then lead to the mural tours.

From there, the night will lead to the museum, 590 Washington St., where artists will paint live and people can purchase fine art prints and paintings and also bid on the live art.

“Throughout the night, you’ll learn more about Beyond Walls, how to get involved, and ways to support our mission. Proceeds from ticket sales and event activities will directly fund our Classroom to the Streets education initiative,” according to the Beyond Walls website.

There are five phases to the Classroom to the Streets initiative:

Phase One: “Schools in highly diverse, urban communities are engaged and teacher fellows are selected.”

Phase Two: Beyond Walls team and educators hold listening sessions to determine curation of the artists.”

Phase Three: Artists selected and paired with teacher fellows. Virtual and in person working sessions between artists and teachers held to determine mural design.”

Phase Four: Teachers work with artists to create the mural.”

Phase Five: Teachers create and teach lesson plans. Teachers and Beyond Walls team lead students on in person mural walking tours.”

The program uses public art to broaden the learning experience and bring those involved closer to the community. Beyond Walls turns the streets into a classroom where students, educators, and artists can connect with and explore identity, culture, and community through art.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online.
