LYNN — John Marzec was appointed the new director of buildings and grounds in the Inspectional Services Department during Wednesday evening’s city council meeting.
Marzec will take over as director effective June 11.
Councilor Constantino “Coco” Alinsug gave a bit of background on the matter and explained the wishes of the council.
“We had a lively conversation, and the councilors asked Mr. Marzec questions, and we unanimously approved to bring it to the main meeting,” Alinsug said.
The council then went through a roll-call vote, where each member of the council voiced their vote for Marzec as the new director.
Marzec then approached the microphone and expressed his gratitude for the appointment.
“I’m very grateful to be here today, and I’m very proud to be considered and accepted to this position,” Marzec said. “Everything I’ve seen so far with the people and the process of this city has been impressive, and I look forward to serving.”
“We have a lot of old buildings in this city, and we’re going to be counting on you,” Council President Jay Walsh said.
