The No. 21 Lynnfield softball team loaded the bases (three walks) during the first inning, but that’s as good as it got for the Pioneers, who bowed out of the Division 3 tournament against No. 5 East Bridgewater, 3-0, Tuesday evening.
In the first inning, East Bridgewater went to its bullpen. In came Mia Holmes, who picked up two strikeouts to end the inning, then no-hit Lynnfield the rest of the way.
Lynnfield had runners on second and third base during the sixth inning, trailing by two runs, but to no avail.
Gia Gagnon of the Pioneers was “excellent,” through 5 1/3 innings of relief, according to Lynnfield Coach Hector Longo. She struck out six batters, allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk.
The Pioneers finished the spring with an 11-11 record.
