LYNN – The Kids in Community (KIC) summer camp program, organized through St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, is back.

KIC offers elementary-aged children a safe, nurturing environment where they can participate in activities that promote academic achievement, artistic development, and social-emotional growth. KIC specializes in the arts, knowing that creative activities promote health and well-being among young children. KIC cherishes each child and welcomes everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, or religion.

The summer camp is free for kids, aside from a $35 registration fee. It provides a structured full-day program for four weeks, focusing on literacy, arts, games, and field trips. The camp will run from July 7 to August 1, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Due to repairs at St. Stephen’s, the camp will be held at the Connery School this year. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The three field trips kids can look forward to this year will be to Boston Harbor’s Georges Island, Stone Zoo, and the North Shore Music Theater. There will also be eight returning teenagers hired through the City of Lynn and two college student assistants on the team.

KIC’s mission is to “raise up children to be curious, resilient, confident, and creative.” The program serves Lynn families from the diverse and economically challenged community around St. Stephen’s church, where the program operates.
