Woman assaulted at knifepoint near Nahant beach

June 13, 2025 by Zach Laird

NAHANT — Police are actively searching for a suspect who reportedly was armed with a knife and dragged a woman into the bushes near Nahant Beach on Tuesday evening.

The Police Department noted that the victim was cut during the assault, though it’s expected that the injury was minor. They added that the suspect fled immediately following the assault.

It was reported that prior to the assault, the victim had previously noticed the suspect riding a bike in the area and wearing a red hoodie. Nahant Police, Atlantic Ambulance, and State Police arrived quickly on the scene to aid the victim.

The Police Department released a statement on Facebook that elaborated on the crime.

“On Tuesday night at approximately 9 p.m., we received a report of and responded to an assault in the area of the DCR halfway house. Officers on scene determined a female victim had been dragged into the bushes by a male suspect armed with a knife. The victim sustained non-life-threatening lacerations,” the department said.

“The victim was aided by Nahant Police, Mass State Police and Atlantic Ambulance. While the suspect was able to flee,  the incident remains under investigation by the Mass State Police.  This is a reminder to everyone that while we strive to be proactive in our patrols, Nahant is not impervious to crime,” the department continued. “We remind everyone that people should be aware of their location at all times and exercise good situational awareness in their surroundings.”
