NAHANT — Fire Lieutenant Frank Pappalardo III was ordered to be held without bail following the Dangerousness Hearing early Monday at Essex County Superior Court in Salem, according to Massachusetts court records.
Pappalardo was previously arraigned on four counts of rape, two counts of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, two counts of assault and battery, one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and one count of witness intimidation.
After the arraignment in May, Town Administrator Tony Barletta said that he had been placed on administrative leave with pay, which is consistent with the town’s collective bargaining agreement — though there is no update available yet on whether or not that status had changed.
This is a continually developing story, and The Item will update the article once more information has been released.
