LYNN – The Eastern Bank Foundation (EBF) announced Nancy Huntington Stager’s retirement from her position as president and CEO on Tuesday, after thirty years with the company.
She will be succeeded by Turahn Dorsey, former chief of education for the City of Boston and member of the Foundation’s leadership team.
“Having joined Eastern in 1995 as our director of human resources and the first woman to serve on our Management Committee, Nancy actively shaped the bank’s culture and reputation for doing good in the region,” said Bob Rivers, executive chair and chair of the Board of Directors of Eastern Bank, and chair of the Board of Trustees of Eastern Bank Foundation.
“She also oversaw the Foundation for 25 years, becoming its full-time president and CEO in 2019. She has made enduring contributions leading our philanthropy, volunteerism, and civic advocacy, and we thank her for her leadership, guidance, and smarts. While no words will adequately express our gratitude and appreciation for all that she has achieved, we are thrilled to announce Nancy as the recipient of our 2025 Celebration of Social Justice honor,” he said.
Stager was also recognized by The Women’s Edge as a Top 100 CEO in Massachusetts.
Her successor, Dorsey, whom Stager regards as a member “integral” to the leadership team, has given new form to the Foundation’s philanthropy, shifting the EBF’s vision from “charitable giving” to “impact investing.”
He plans to address community needs by focusing on economic inclusion in the small business ecosystem, enriching early childhood development, and securing safe and affordable housing.
Before joining the EBF, Dorsey started out as a public policy researcher, focusing his efforts on program designs at the intersection of education, health, housing, and economic development in Boston.
Having worked for Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s cabinet from 2014 to 2018, he then served as the Chief of Education for the City of Boston.
“I am excited to build on Nancy’s incredible work and to partner with our teammates and communities across the region to advance economic justice,” Dorsey said, commenting on his promotion to president and CEO of the EBF.
The EBF, the philanthropic arm of Eastern Bank, aims to invest in communities, often in collaboration with other businesses and partners. The Boston Business Journal has recognized Eastern 13 times among the Top 10 Most Charitable Companies in Massachusetts.
