To the editor:
I’m deeply frustrated that the Senate is following the House’s lead on the so-called “one big beautiful” reconciliation bill. Rather than stopping the House’s assault on Medicaid, SNAP, and the tax code, Senate GOP leaders are doubling down. Like their House counterparts, they expect millions of struggling Americans to sacrifice so the wealthy can get even richer. It’s disgraceful.
Supporters say no one who needs help will be denied it. Don’t believe them. Shifting costs to states and burying people in paperwork is not about efficiency — it is about cutting people off. Children, seniors, people with disabilities, and millions of everyday Americans will pay the price. But apparently, enriching billionaires and ballooning the national debt is worth it.
Americans deserve better from our elected officials. I urge our senators to speak out against this shameful bill and vote NO.
Sincerely,
Divyarathna Bhuvarahamurthy
