LYNN – The MBTA’s income-eligible reduced fare program offers reduced fares to riders aged 18-64 who are enrolled in an approved state assistance program, and income-eligible reduced fare applications are now open to the public.
Income-eligible CharlieCards can be loaded with:
- Cash value for roughly 50% reduced one-way fares
- $10 7-day LinkPasses
- $30 monthly LinkPasses
The card can also be used to purchase reduced one-way fares and monthly passes for Commuter Rail, Ferry and Express Bus.
The following are the qualifications for an income-eligible reduced fare card:
- Being a Massachusetts resident
- Having a government-issued ID
- Being between the ages of 18 and 64
- Being enrolled in one of the following state assistance programs:
- Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled & Children (EAEDC)
- MASSGrant
- MassHealth CarePlus
- MassHealth Family Assistance
- MassHealth Limited
- MassHealth Standard
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC)
