Bloomin’ 4 Good aids Saugus pantry

SAUGUS — Through the month of July, Stop & Shop at 164 Main St. is lending a hand to the Saugus United Food Pantry with its Bloomin’ 4 Good bouquet program. For every specially marked bouquet priced at $11.99, the pantry will receive $1 to help feed the community.

According to Stop & Shop, buying a bouquet sends 10+ meals to a hunger organization near you.

Along with the bouquets, Stop & Shop has “Give Back” bags. The bags cost $2.49, and $0.99 of every sale goes directly to the charity of choice that month, which is the pantry this month.

The Saugus United Food Pantry is a partnership between the churches of Saugus to help combat food insecurity in town. It’s located at the Cliftondale Congregational Church and is a partner agency of the Greater Boston Food Bank, according to its website.

“We’re thankful for Stop & Shop’s partnership with the food pantry, including through the annual Bloomin’ 4 Good bouquet event in which the Saugus United Food Parish receives $1 from each of these special bouquets sold during July at the Saugus Stop & Shop. Each person and each business can make a difference in helping us to fight food insecurity in our community. For over 20 years, we’ve walked with families going through hard times — from people who are employed and struggling to make ends meet to people who are on disability or recovering from a major illness. Community members can help by picking up a Bloomin’ 4 Good bouquet this month and a non-perishable food item or by volunteering,” said Cliftondale Congregational Church Pastor and food pantry Executive Director Joe Hoyle.

The pantry is open every Friday from 9:30-11 a.m., except on Fridays preceding major holidays or during snow emergencies. It serves residents of Saugus and surrounding communities.
