LYNN — The Greater Lynn Babe Ruth 16U Navy All-Stars defeated Lynn’s Gray All-Stars, 12-0, in the state semifinals to punch their ticket to the championship game.
For all the marbles, the defending Eastern Massachusetts champions will battle it out with Braintree at Libby Field in Weymouth Friday. First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m.
In the semifinal showdown against Gray, two Navy pitchers – right-hander Brennan Malloy (6 IP, 2 H, 12 K, 3 BB) and Mark Walsh (1 IP, 2 K) – combined for the shutout.
After two scoreless innings, Navy (13 H) struck first in the third when Rowan Merryman singled to score two runs.
Navy also plated five runs on three hits in the seventh inning. Kalen Huddle (2 H) and Jack Spates (2 H) singled, while Brock Hogan drew a walk with the bases loaded.
The winners received help from Jared Burke (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Walsh (2 H), James Pasquale (2 H), and Collin Hart (3 BB).
Right-hander Liam Carter (3 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 K, 4 BB) took the loss for Gray, which was led by Julian Rodriguez (H) and Alphonse Wilhelmsen (H) offensively.
