Regionals next for state champion Greater Lynn Babe Ruth squad

WEYMOUTH — With their late-night, 6-2 victory against Braintree at Libby Field in Weymouth Friday, the Greater Lynn Babe Ruth 15/16U Navy All-Stars captured the state championship.

Greater Lynn shifts its focus to the regional tournament with game No.1 against host Westfield set for Friday at 7 p.m. All games will be played at Billy Bullens Field.

The team plays Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before being seeded for a single-game elimination tournament.

As for last Friday, Greater Lynn committed no errors (as did Braintree) and scored one run in the first inning, two in the third, and three in the fourth.

The action started early, when Rowan Merryman singled to score the first run of the game. From there, in the third, Kalen Huddle (2-for-3) and Jared Burke connected on RBI to put the pressure on.

James Pasquale (1-for-2) helped guide Greater Lynn with two RBI, while Braeden Ohannesian earned the win, allowing just five hits and two runs across five innings to go with four strikeouts and two walks.
