SWAMPSCOTT — The Town is eager to recruit new volunteers to join the newly-formed Community Preservation Commission, with applications open to community members until August 1.
The commission will be tasked with ensuring that Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds are used appropriately by gathering public input and proposals across the eligible categories of Historic Preservation, Open Space, and Community Housing, according to an online statement from the Town.
CPA funds are typically defined as money set aside by Massachusetts municipalities to support the protection of open spaces, historic preservation, outdoor recreation, and affordable housing.
The commission will also include one representative from each of the following boards: Conservation Commission, Historical Commission, Planning Board, Housing Authority, Open Space and Recreation, Affordable Housing Trust Fund, Finance Committee, and Capital Improvements Committee, as well as one resident.
Community members are encouraged to apply for a position on the commission online. Anyone interested can visit https://swampscottmaboards.vt-s.net/newcaf.php.
Terms will be for 2-years for a maximum of 5-terms, according to the Town. “Applications are due no later than Friday, August 1st. We keep applications on file for 3 years. All applications already on file as well as new applications will be considered when there is a vacancy,” the Town said.
