Lynn’s Brickyard Bazaar series brings community together with vendors

LYNN — The first of three vendor pop-up events in the Brickyard Bazaar market series was held Friday at EmVision Studios. There were 18 small businesses in attendance, showing off and selling their products at their vendor stations.

The event was created by Lynn native Rachel Gaudet, owner of Planning with a Scorpio, and in collaboration with EmVision Studios, which hosted the event in its building on Essex Street.

“(EmVision) has this incredible, multi-use, production space in Lynn that they want to be able to bring more of the community into, and my company, Planning with a Scorpio, our throughline mission is to provide more opportunities for local artists and vendors to connect with community and share their wares, so it seemed like a really great way to collaborate on that and kind of bring the community of Lynn and the greater Lynn area together to uplift small businesses in the area,” Gaudet said.

Shaneen Harris, owner of Replenish Scrubs, was selling body scrubs which come in a variety of scents and keep her skin feeling buttery soft; Stephanie Fagundes, owner of Tough Love Tarot, was offering tarot readings to attendees; Maritza Torres, owner of Blessing Creations, was showing off her baked confections; and Carmen Echevarria Bonilla, owner of Bee Charmed, displayed her jewelry and artwork, which centers crystals and wire wrapping.

Avery Tronson, owner of Citizens Crochet, said this event was a “really good way to get immersed into the small business space.” Nicole Palermo, owner of Link & Lore, echoed Tronson’s sentiment, calling the event “brilliant.”

EmVision Studios Co-founder Jonas Meyer beamed with pride when asked what it felt like to see the space filled with small business vendors.

“It’s beautiful,” Meyer said. “When we opened up, we didn’t really have a good idea of what we wanted to do in here, and it’s beautiful. I mean, the purpose of this space is to be a creative space in the community… This fulfills exactly that purpose. It’s filled with life and full of artists and creativity, so it’s beautiful.”

There will be two more Brickard Bazaars in this market series: one on Friday, Aug. 8, and another on Friday, Sept. 12 from 5-9 p.m. at 131 Essex St.

“It is incredibly exciting not only to be able to curate this space and make it more possible for both these artists and community members to connect and to form that sense of community that is lost a lot now, especially in the current way that consumerism functions, but also to be specifically getting to do it in Lynn is so exciting to me,” Gaudet said.
