Caped Crusader has Saugus revved up

SAUGUS — The cars were revving their engines again in Saugus to help raise money in support of the American Cancer Society through Mom’s Cancer Fighting Angels Car Show Cruise Night.

The community came rolling out to provide their support, buying raffle tickets and voting on their favorite cars. It was a packed show as residents from Saugus and beyond admired the vehicles lining the spots at Saugus Middle High School. Kids enjoyed hot dogs straight off the grill, ice cream cones, snow cones, popsicles, and more as they strolled around the lot.

Cars ranged from vintage Beetles, Cadillacs, and Mustangs to newer Jeeps and Fords. Each one was clearly well-loved and showed off with pride.

This was the 11th annual car show for Mom’s Cancer Fighting Angels, and according to Guy Moley, the start of it was already looking like a success, with more than 200 cars at the event and more than $2,000 raised by the end.

Car show goers also got to enjoy hearing Boston Bruins anthem singer Todd Angilly perform the National Anthem and dancers from Fox Run Dance Hall perform to songs like “Grease Lightning.” The group was dressed to the nines in classic “Grease” fashion.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a car show without the Caped Crusader, Boston Batman, who consistently shows up to help bring support to the car shows. Kids and adults stopped to take a picture with the hero. Harley Quinn also arrived later in the night. Thankfully, there was no conflict, putting aside their differences to support the fight against cancer.

By the end of the night the show raised $4,000 with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
