LYNN — If you caught Wednesday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, you heard about a local pizza shop being revered as one of the best.
Monte’s in Lynn, known for its decadent crusts and delicious cheese, was spoken about by Dave Portnoy and Fallon while discussing about the best pizza Portnoy has ever had.
Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and famous for his “one bite” pizza segment, gave Monte’s Pizza in Lynn one of the only 10/10 scores he has given to a pizza joint.
“This is a nostalgic pizza for me,” Portnoy said. “This is my hometown.”
“I love Monte’s and if I’m home, I get it — but I’ve had people travel across the country to go to Monte’s, not understanding it is my hometown pizza,” he said.
Fallon, who had procured a small cheese pizza from Monte’s to try live on the show, said, “This is a vintage pizza” after taking one bite. “This pizza is from 1989.
“But that was a good year,” Fallon said. “I’m going to give it a 10 out of 10.”
