LYNN — Ben Bowden, a former Lynn English baseball star (Class of 2013), has been called up to the Athletics from Triple-A Las Vegas.
He posted stellar numbers with the Las Vegas Aviators in 2025. In 31 appearances, Bowden went 1-1 with a 1.36 ERA and 41 strikeouts across 39 2/3 innings.
Back on Goodridge Street, Bowden was one of the top high school pitchers in the state. He was named the Gatorade Massachusetts Baseball Player of the Year in 2013 and was a three-time Daily Item All-Star.
One of his signature performances came on Opening Day in 2012, when he tossed a perfect game with 14 strikeouts in a 5-0 win against Marblehead.
Following high school, Bowden played Division 1 baseball at Vanderbilt University before being selected by the Colorado Rockies in the second round (45th overall) of the 2016 MLB Draft.
In the 2021 season, Bowden pitched in 39 games for Colorado and went 3-2.
