SAUGUS — The historical Iron Works was once again the site of music and fun Wednesday night with the duo Atwater-Donnelly taking the stage during the Concerts at the Iron Works series.
The duo, made up of Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly, brought a slew of instruments to get the crowd dancing. The couple is known for their American and Celtic folk songs, playing guitar, Appalachian mountain dulcimer, mandolin, tin whistle, harmonica, and banjo, to name a few.
The duo has won multiple Motif Magazine Music Awards, including “Best Local Folk Act,” “Album of the Year,” “Best Female Vocalist,” and “Best Americana World Music Act.”
Atwater also gave the crowd a performance with some clog dancing, telling the audience to get up and dance with her if they would like. Many kids jumped up to join in on the dancing.
Refreshments were also provided with Raising Cane’s setting up a booth that included lemonade. The Saugus River Watershed Council also had its own tables, with cookies and watermelon available.
The next concert will be Aug. 6 from 6-8 p.m. and will feature Ditto at the Saugus Iron Works.
