Lynn Classical High School.

LPS to potential teachers: We want YOU!

Paul Halloran

August 6, 2025 by Paul Halloran

Lynn Public Schools is actively looking for educators interested in joining the district. As part of the effort to attract new talent, LPS will host a job fair for teachers on Friday from 9 a.m.-noon at 195 Market St.

There is a list of openings the district is trying to fill, including:

  • Grades K-5
  • Special education
  • Teachers in the following disciplines: instructional technology, world language, health, dual language, math, and science
  • Clinicians and speech language pathologists
  • Certified occupational therapy assistants

“We are looking for qualified, licensed teachers who may be interested in working in an urban setting with a population that is different from the surrounding area,” said Deborah Morel, LPS director of educator quality. “We want to expose them to the culture and diversity of our district.”

Morel said LPS hired approximately 200 educators last year, almost three times as many as five years prior, and that a good percentage of them are returning, yet they still had about 300 openings to fill at the start of the hiring process for 2025-26.

“It’s good to know people had a positive experience in their first year in the district,” she said, citing the “support they received from their principals and veteran teachers.”

LPS benefits include 15 sick and four personal days, health insurance through Harvard Pilgrim, sick day buyback, credit for all years of verified teaching experience, and a longevity package.

At the job fair, potential employees will hear from principals and district leadership and have the opportunity to ask any questions they have about teaching in Lynn.

“We want to let them know the kind of supports the district offers them,” Morel said.
