Elizabeth Della Piana

August 7, 2025 by Elizabeth Della Piana

SAUGUS — With town elections only a few months away, here are some key dates before votes will be cast.

Nomination papers became available to pull on July 21, and the last day to obtain papers is Sept. 12. Incumbent Town Meeting Members looking for re-election must submit a written notice to the town clerk by Sept. 9.

Submissions for nomination papers are due on Sept. 16, and they must be submitted to the Board of Registrars for the certification of signatures.

The Board of Selectmen, School Committee, and Housing Authority must have 50 certified signatures from registered voters. Town Meeting Members need 10 certified signatures, and they must be from the candidate’s precinct.

The final day to file objections or withdrawals is Oct. 2, which is also the day ballot positions will be drawn in the Town Hall Auditorium.

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 25 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Saugus Public Library.

Candidates are expected to comply with Town Zoning Bylaw Article 7, Section 7.3, Sub-Section 8 regarding political signs.

Office of Campaign and Finance reports are due Monday, Oct. 27, or the eighth day preceding the election, and Thursday, Dec. 4, or the 30th day preceding the election.
