Saugus sets grant dates

Elizabeth Della Piana

August 10, 2025 by Elizabeth Della Piana

SAUGUS — The Cultural Council has announced the dates for its grant application period, which will run from Sept. 2 through Oct. 16.

The Council has awarded grants to individuals and organizations for artistic, educational, and cultural projects and programs since 1998. It is “committed to supporting cultural programs and events that showcase diversity and add vibrancy in the Town of Saugus,” according to a press release.

For those with ideas for projects and/or programs that bring public benefit to the community, the Council encourages them to consider applying for the Local Cultural Council Grant.

“We prioritize applications from Saugus organizations, individuals, and organizers, and projects that take place in the Town of Saugus,” the Council said.

Tuesday, Sept. 9, the Massachusetts Cultural Council will host an online information session on how the grants work and how to apply. The session is free and accessible at massculturalcouncil.org

The Saugus Cultural Council will be available at Founder’s Day on Sept. 13 to provide live support in submitting an application or provide project feedback, the release said. The Council noted that people should come with a description of their project and any questions about the grant application process. The Council will also be available on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Saugus Public Library to provide additional live support in the process.

Some projects and programs that the Council funded in 2025 were the Hammersmith Quilters Guild 2025 quilt show, the Massachusetts High School Drama Festival for the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild, Inc., different programs at the Library, and the Breakheart Fall Festival for Helping Hands of Breakheart Reservation.
