LYNN — The U.S. federal government has filed a case against a defendant who was allegedly involved in a 2023 Lynn drive-by shooting that resulted in two deaths.
In September 2023, 25-year-old Abraham Diaz and 21-year-old Jandriel Heredia were fatally shot at 189 Essex St. in Lynn. In February 2025, twenty-four alleged members of the Trinitario gang were arrested in connection to the murders, along with other crimes.
On June 9, 2025, an unnamed defendant, who was a juvenile at the time of the murders, was charged with four counts of racketeering by the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
The first two counts of racketeering allegations are in connection with the murders of Diaz and Heredia.
The third racketeering count is related to an August 2023 incident in which the defendant and other Trinitario members allegedly attempted to murder an individual with an armed weapon.
The fourth count of racketeering is in connection to an alleged September 2023 act to “intentionally combine, conspire, confederate, and agree with others known and unknown to the United States Attorney, to murder with deliberately premeditated malice aforethought those believed to be members of rival gangs,” according to court documents.
The defendant was also faced with a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act Forfeiture Allegation that will allow the U.S. government to seize “any property constituting, or derived from, any proceeds obtained, directly and indirectly, from racketeering activity” upon conviction, according to court documents.
The court documents regarding this case were obtained by Courtwatch.news and submitted to The Daily Item as a tip by a reader.
“This case is a testament to the strong collaboration and dedicated efforts of our officers, our State and Federal Law Enforcement partners. We are grateful for the commitment of all those involved in ensuring justice and assisting us in keeping our community safe,” Lynn Police Lt. Richard Connick told The Daily Item.
