Marblehead Town Administrator Thatcher Kezer, left, Swampscott Fire Chief Graham Archer, second from left, and Marblehead Fire Chief Jason Gilliland, right, discuss the ambulance coverage that will be provided with Beauport Ambulance Service, Inc. President John R. Morris.

Marblehead, Swampscott make ambulance shift

After 10 years with Cataldo Atlantic Ambulance providing services for Swampscott and Marblehead, both towns have finalized a contract with Beauport Ambulance Service Inc., which is scheduled to assume emergency services for the communities effective Saturday.

Swampscott Fire Chief Graham Archer explained how the development will benefit both communities going forward.

“Swampscott and Marblehead had both been serviced by Cataldo Atlantic Ambulance Services for over 10 years. They did a great job and provided excellent service for a long time,” Archer said. “As it came time to reevaluate the contract, both towns took a look at a couple of other ambulance companies, and we felt that Beauport put forward the strongest proposal.”

Archer continued, “They brought the most to the table, and they will offer the best response and level of services to both communities.”

Marblehead Fire Chief Jason Gilliland echoed Archer’s point.

“Chief Archer and I have been working on this for awhile, and after evaluating everything, Beauport Ambulance Service came out on top,” Gililand said. “We’re happy to have them. So far, from the get-go, they’ve been very cooperative in the transition.”

Gilliland said that “we also want to thank Cataldo Atlantic Ambulance for all their years of service.”

President and Owner of Beauport John Morris shared his excitement for the new development.

“Both communities will benefit from having Beauport as their provider, because we really put the customer first,” Morris said. “We want to make sure that we give the two towns service that they rightfully deserve. That’s why we’re giving them three dedicated ambulances.”

Morris said it was “always our goal to provide mutual aid and quick response times to the towns.

“One thing that’s big with Beauport is customer service (is) to make sure the customers are happy, the Police and Fire Departments are happy, and all of our customers are served to the best of our ability.”
